How to transform your hair
Let me just start by saying that I have never had glossy, silky, super-model-like hair in my life. If anything my hair has always been dry, brittle, and frizzy. It’s safe to say I did not get the “good hair” gene.
Then entering high school, I started bleaching and highlighting my hair - not realizing just how damaging that was to my hair until years later when my hair looked like this…
I didn’t realize until I looked at pictures taken just how damaged my hair had become over the years from bleaching and not caring for it properly
I kid you not when I say this was all of my hair swept over to one side
SO thin & damaged to say the least. I honestly was so discouraged from trying all of the serums, shampoos, supplements, etc that had promised me better hair but none of them ever worked.
But I promise that this story has a happy ending! I wasn’t going to let my fate be horrible hair for the rest of my life. When I got engaged in 2022, I was determined to get the best hair of my life (who doesn’t want the most gorgeous healthy long hair for their wedding day?!) After researching and trying a million different products, I can finally say I found the absolute BEST products and methods to repair damaged hair that actually work.

I do want to preface that it takes time to repair damaged hair. I’m not here to tell you there is some magic pill you can take which will transform your hair in 3 months (or if there is, I have yet to find it!) However, you can drastically transform your hair like I did over time with the right products and methods (without giving up highlights!). Fast forward to 2024 when my hair now looks like this…
SO much healthier, longer and soft!
I never thought I’d have hair this long in my life without having extensions
And if that’s how you feel too, I’m here to tell you that is absolutely not true!

So how did I do it??
1 Go longer in-between hair appointments
I started asking for a more “lived in” look, which allows you to wait longer between hair appointments, which means less bleaching = less damage to your hair. Of course this only applies if you’re someone who colors your hair (especially highlighting, which is the most damaging). But, you don’t have to stop highlighting all together! I personally wait about 3.5 - 4 months in between hair salon appointments now, and alternate between face framing highlights and a full highlight. Also, I ALWAYS ask for a dusting, which I’ve found has really helped my hair grow out more, since a dusting will cut off all the needed split ends without necessarily cutting off length.
2 Make sure you’re washing and drying your hair to cause the least damage
I used to just follow the method of shampoo, conditioner, wrap hair in a towel and then forget about it until it’s dry. Little did I know my routine was actually damaging my hair. Here’s the perfect routine I found that worked wonders to restore my hair health…
Washing my hair with a clarifying shampoo first and then washing it a second time with regular shampoo was so beneficial. My hair had too much build-up that washing it just once wasn’t getting rid of all the products I put on it during the week, which was then causing it to grow slower. Click here for my favorite clarifying shampoo and here for a great “regular” hydrating shampoo.
Using a bond builder every other week before washes helps to rebuild the damage in your hair. Olaplex #3 has definitely helped build back strength in my hair so it stopped breaking so much!
